Oracle Linux / Red Hat: the common lifecycle reference uses the Oracle Linux Premier Support end date. Source: Oracle Lifetime Support Policy.
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server: SUSE enterprise platforms use a long-term lifecycle with General Support followed by extended maintenance. Individual service packs have their own maintenance windows. SLES 15 SP6 General Support ended December 31, 2025; LTSS continues through December 31, 2028, which is the lifecycle reference used here. openSUSE is not included because its lifecycle is materially shorter and differs from SLES.
Debian, macOS, Windows client: these rapidly evolving platforms follow a latest-two-releases policy rather than a fixed vendor-EOL date.
Platform Lifecycle Policy
MySQL release support and operating system platform support have separate lifecycles. A MySQL release may remain supported after MySQL stops producing builds for a particular operating system.
For server operating systems, MySQL normally plans to discontinue platform support approximately when the applicable operating-system vendor security and bug-fix support ends. MySQL generally aims to announce planned platform EOL changes well in advance, typically around one year before the platform EOL date. Timing may vary due to changes in vendor support lifecycles, operating-system release plans, platform adoption, supportability, or other technical or business considerations.
Where a vendor offers multiple maintenance phases, the applicable lifecycle date is the end of the maintenance phase MySQL uses as its platform-support reference.
Server operating systems
Lifecycle planning uses the vendor's applicable security and bug-fix support end date. For Oracle Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux, the Oracle Linux Premier Support end date is used as the common reference.
Rapidly evolving platforms
For Debian, macOS, and Microsoft Windows client releases, MySQL generally supports the latest two major releases rather than using a fixed vendor-EOL date.
MySQL platform EOL
Platform EOL is independent of MySQL product EOL. A platform may be retired based on adoption, supportability, engineering requirements, lifecycle changes, or other technical or business considerations.
