Learn about new MySQL releases, technical articles, events and more.
"We have been able to target the mid-market with a highly sophisticated offering in large part because we've used open source software like MySQL," said Jason Jacobs, CoreSense CEO. "With MySQL, we've never had to compromise on functionality or performance, and we've virtually eliminated the pass-through costs associated with proprietary databases."
CoreSense software, which, in addition to MySQL, was developed using the open-source Linux operation system and PHP on the front-end, gives small and mid-size businesses all the tools they need to manage multi-channel sales in an increasingly complex global market. Its software includes everything from an online storefront and transaction processing, to order fulfillment and supply chain management. Customers can even join e-marketplaces or online auctions, and manage it all through CoreSense.
The MySQL database manages the full gamut of business process management for CoreSense. It is the central repository for all CoreSense data, such as the customer's product catalog, order status and any other client information, and it manages all transactions. "We know that MySQL can handle anything it's asked to do in CoreSense - and that could be a lot," noted Jacobs.
"Open source software like MySQL offers a scale of efficiency that will play a large role in creating a new, more effective e-business paradigm," continued Jacobs. "We believe that many of the apprehensions that people have had concerning open source software in general are falling by the wayside as products like MySQL prove what they can do."
