In a nutshell, Waffle Grid enables you to have a central database node with several Memcached servers acting as a remote L2 cache for InnoDB. This allows you to overcome 32-bit memory limitations and poor disk performance in a cost-effective manner. An in-depth examination of how Waffle Grid works, how to implement and design an architecture around it and identifying the best use cases will be presented. Finally, the results of several DBT2 benchmarks comparing Waffle Grid to other alternative approaches will be presented.
