MySQL Newsletter New server product names

MySQL Server product naming will change with 4.0. The old MySQL & MySQL Max will be replaced with MySQL Classic, MySQL Pro and MySQL Max.
* The standard package will be MySQL Pro, which by default includes InnoDB table handler.
* The MySQL Classic will be the "good old" MySQL version compiled without transaction support.
* MySQL Max will include other tablehandlers too and test versions of new features.

MySQL Pro & MySQL Classic will be available underthe dual GPL licensing. MySQL Max will be available only under the GPL license.

In the pricing the largest change is, that as InnoDB is included by default, the 'standard single license price' has increased from 200 USD to 395 USD (but you can still get the MySQL Classic, i.e. MySQL without transaction support for 200 USD).

These changes will get into full effect in early September 2002.
