SURFnet Integrates MySQL Cluster in SURFfederatie

Utrecht, Netherlands -- December 5, 2007 -– SURFnet, a Dutch provider of Internet connectivity and innovative security, authentication, authorisation, group communication and video services to higher educational and research organisations, has integrated the MySQL Cluster database into the core of its SURFfederatie service.

This new Web connection service offers researchers, students and teachers comprehensive access to information and content from various Internet portals throughout their organization via a single login account. This eliminates the need for these users to remember multiple login names and access codes -- providing greater transparency, simplicity and user privacy.

MySQL Cluster combines the world's most popular open source database with a fault tolerant database clustering architecture enabling organizations to deliver mission-critical database applications with 99.999 percent ("five nines") availability. MySQL Cluster has a flexible distributed architecture which gives SURFnet complete control over the level of performance, reliability and scalability needed for their application.
