IT groups within Carriers face significant challenges in transforming their IT architecture to meet the requirements of today's communications industry. As they transition their operations from supporting, to delivering, new revenue generating services, along with implementing initiatives to promote greater customer intimacy and to meet regulatory requirements, they are also charged with driving cost reductions and at the same time, improving SLAs.
MySQL Cluster Carrier Grade Edition has become the relational database of choice in the network domain, powering real-time, carrier-grade subscriber solutions for the likes of Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia and Ericsson. MySQL Enterprise is also the database of choice for the web with deployments in some of the most prolific names on the internet including Yahoo!, Google, Flickr, YouTube and Wikipedia. As a result, no other database company can provide the insight and experience to marry the network and IT worlds of the Communications Service Provider, enabling CSPs to build compelling new Web/Telco 2.0 applications, tailored for subscriber-centric services
See what IT leaders in Communications Service Providers have to say about MySQL Enterprise Server:
"The new MySQL Query Analyzer gives us a better level of visibility into our database performance that we have never had before. Not only does it save us both time and resources, it allows us to be far better prepared when these applications go live, understanding exactly the demands that will be placed on the system."
Phil Hildebrand
Senior DBA at thePlatform, a subsidiary of Comcast Interactive Media
Virgin Mobile has implemented a MySQL Enterprise Platinum subscription to manage its data using the world's most popular open source database.
The mobile phone operator offers unlimited outgoing SMS text messages. The considerable storage and processing requirements for SMS require a highly available database management system. Over 500 gigabytes are contained in MySQL data tables, and subject to thousands of queries per second.
All applications have been developed internally at Virgin Mobile, based on a LAMP platform which ensures the operator a significant return on investment compared with a proprietary system. MySQL Enterprise also operates the CRM applications, the billing and the management of Virgin Mobile orders.
“The MySQL Server is a core technology in our distributed data cluster that handles over 2TB of data per week. By using MySQL, we have been able to reduce our costs while maintaining high availability across our client applications.”
Rick Levenson
Sr. Vice President of Service Delivery
TellMe Networks
“MySQL's high scalability and attractive cost-performance ratio ensure that our applications can keep pace with our growing volume of data”.
Thomas Hutters
Director, Data Processing Center
The Phone House Telecom GmbH
